The Barnburner II

The Barnburner II is the premier PNW bluegrass guitar competition. The winner takes home a custom luthier-built dreadnought assembled from Pacific Northwest woods.

The Outlanders House Band (OPBSCHB) plays the second-stage roof platform between sets while the crew sound checks and strikes bands on and off the main stage.

How the Barnburner is judged

Each judge scores every player out of 10 in each of three categories. A perfect 30 from each judge makes the highest possible total 60 points.

Tone

How good you make your guitar sound.

Technique

The technical difficulty of the piece you are attempting.

Groove

How it feels. Is it danceable? Does it sound human, with its own texture?
